What you can expect

CordenPharma is making a bold move to expand its Peptide Platform, strengthening our position as a global leader in CDMO peptide manufacturing. A major milestone in this journey is the construction of a state-of-the-art peptide manufacturing facility in Muttenz, Switzerland – located just outside Basel, a major biotech and pharma hub.


As part of this exciting expansion, we are seeking a Technical Process SME Lead to take on a key role in developing, optimizing, and implementing manufacturing processes within customer projects. You will lead and manage CPLs, ensuring the smooth execution of development projects while acting as the key technical contact for customers. In this role, you will bridge project management, development, and manufacturing teams, ensuring successful project execution.


Your tasks will include:

  • Develop and optimize manufacturing processes for chemical products within customer projects.
  • Lead all aspects of development projects, including route identification, feasibility studies, process development, scale-up, tech transfer, and troubleshooting.
  • Prepare and maintain key project documentation, including test plans, risk analyses, technical transfer documents, and progress reports.
  • Identify and report deviations proactively, proposing and implementing effective solutions.
  • Ensure the timely transfer of developed processes to production, providing technical support during implementation.
  • Represent the development department in internal and external meetings, delivering professional project presentations.
  • Act as the primary technical contact for customers, ensuring clear and effective communication.
  • Coach and mentor project team members, providing technical and strategic guidance.
  • Support customer inquiries, assessing feasibility and project scope.
  • Escalate challenges in a timely manner to ensure seamless project execution.

To successfully master this role, we are looking for the following qualifications:

  • Ph.D. in Organic Chemistry or a related field.
  • 8+ years of experience in the chemical-pharmaceutical industry, focusing on process research, development, or production.
  • Proven industrial experience in the production of APIs and intermediates, particularly in peptide manufacturing.
  • Strong knowledge of cGMP regulations.
  • Fluent in German and English, with excellent communication skills.
  • Leadership experience, with a strong track record of mentoring and guiding teams.
  • Proactive, hands-on approach, with strong problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to influence and lead within a wider organization.
  • Strong presentation skills, able to explain complex technical concepts convincingly to customers.
  • Proven success in planning and executing complex improvement and transformation projects.
