Access to Medicines
EMPOWERING OUR PEOPLE TO PIONEER A BETTER WAY Access to innovative medicines and quality healthcare is vital to the well-being of people, yet it remains a significant issue around the world. It's estimated that one in three people in developing countries can't get essential medicines on a regular basis. Our therapeutics focus is oncology, gastroenterology, and the central nervous system, as well as life-saving vaccines. With our bold, new Access to Medicines (AtM) strategy, we are expanding our existing commitments to enhance global health so that eligible patients in evolving healthcare systems can have access to our innovative and potentially life-saving medicines—even if their ability to pay for the full cost of treatment is limited. Our AtM strategy is guided by Takeda’s patient-centric philosophy and a legacy of helping others in need. Of the 38 million people who die from noncommunicable diseases each year, 28 million of these deaths occur in low- and middle-income countries. Our strategy focuses in areas such as Latin America, Southeast Asia and Africa, where sustainable approaches to tackle barriers that limit access to medicines are needed to make a meaningful impact on patients’ lives.
