We’re delighted to welcome skiing champion Aleksander Aamodt Kilde as our new #SyngentaGroup Ambassador! As an alpine skier, @akilde sees the impact of climate change on the world around him every day and shares our commitment to create a greener, healthier and safer planet. The Alpine Skiing Overall World Cup Winner 2020 feels deeply inspired by the passion and dedication of farmers, having grown up in the farming countryside in Norway. As Group Ambassador, he will help drive awareness of the challenges that farmers face to grow enough healthy food in an environmentally friendly way, and how our work benefits them, society and the planet. Learn why he’s proud to be part of the Syngenta Group team: www.SyngentaGroup.com #agriculture #farming #farmers #TogetherWeGrow #skiing
Today is #PoinsettiaDay. 🌟 As one of the top breeders of poinsettias globally, we celebrate the history of this festive plant. Poinsettias come originally from Mexico and Central America. In 1826, they were brought to the United States by Joel Roberts Poinsett, the first U.S. Ambassador to Mexico, who was also a keen botanist. The plant was known in Mexico as the “painted leaf” and the “fire plant”, as well as “Flor de Noche Buena." Poinsettias earned their classic holiday status in the United States in the 1950s after a farmer named Albert Eckes and his family cultivated and marketed hardier versions of the tropical plant. Today, more than 200 million poinsettias are sold every year around the world, with a retail value of about $435 million. Syngenta is one of the top breeders of poinsettias globally. @syngentamx @syngentaflowersna @syngentaflowerseu . . . #agriculture #farming #flowers #syngentaflowers

In times like this, it's important to recognize our #foodheroes - farmers & workers in the #foodsystem - who make sure food ends up on our plates! 🍽 This #WorldFoodDay, we highlight their critically important work. #Agriculture #Farming #Heroes
Today is the International Day of #RuralWomen, which highlights the significant contributions they make in rural communities. Women account for a substantial proportion of the agricultural labor force, representing 2/3 of smallholders and 60% of all farmers. Often the backbone of rural economies around the world, women need support to overcome the yield gap and improve their access to training, finance and markets. In India, our Foundation operates a skill training center exclusively for women in India who are seeking careers in agriculture – the first of its kind in the country. The program is helping to close the gender gap to help feed the world and help women launch and lead successful farming businesses in their rural villages. #WomeninAg #FoodHeroes #FemaleFarmers #IDRW #IDRW2020 #Agriculture #Farming
Vegetables are one of the richest sources of vitamins and minerals needed for good health – and increasingly recognized as essential for food and nutrition security. But today, vegetable growers are facing unprecedented challenges to meet demand considering the impact of coronavirus and climate change related weather extremes. This means that helping farmers produce healthy, tasty and affordable vegetables – in an environmentally friendly way – has never been more important. At #SyngentaGroup, we transform how vegetable crops are grown, enabling farmers across the globe to improve yields and enhance sustainability, reducing food loss and waste along the food chain – from the field, through processing, transport and retail, and on to end-consumers. Each year, Syngenta Vegetable Seeds hosts its ‘Fields of Innovation’ event to put the best of their innovations on display, bringing together the entire vegetable supply chain. But an unprecedented year called for a different type of event, so Fields of Innovation 2020 was presented completely online. The fully interactive digital 3D experience invited guests September 21 – 25 to safely attend from anywhere in the world while navigating a virtual farm. Our Fields of Innovation event introduces the value chain to innovations that are bringing genuine value, including new varieties that make a real-world difference through improved reliability, increased shelf life and by meeting modern consumer needs. Innovative vegetable qualities – such as improved heat tolerance, longer shelf life, and more efficient harvesting are increasingly more important to growers around the world. #Vegetables #eatyourveggies #FieldsofInnovation #Innovation #SustainableAg #Agriculture #Farm #Farming #cauliflower #lettuce #cabbage #tomatoes #kohlrabi
