Working as the IT Manager at Medtronic in Goleta was one of the best organized, professional and employee friendly environments I have ever worked in. Our work training was constantly monitored and updated, the management was top notch, overall they cared about the quality of their work and it showed with a very positive and exciting work environment. If I had the chance to work for Medtronic again, I would do so!
Subsidized lunches, lots of positive mental social activities.
Would like to see more "Contract Employees" Hired to be fulltime.
I loved working here it was actually really fun Because of the co worked .management was terrible to say the least. The didn’t let us speak Spanish and we were not allowed to talk while we worked they were so strict and complaint every time we would ask to use the restroom! Everyone was really nice expect for the management they would let that power get to their head that they would talk to people rude I got to see them make a lady cry .

Working a Medtronic can be great in many ways... unless you have a supervisor like I had, and he screws you over, for some reason, oh yeah now I remember, he wanted me gone so he could out source my machining work, to a machine shop he has a personal relationship with.
A typical day involves me working 6 different stations contributing to doing my part as a team. I've learned I won't say many things but quite a few
Like I said working for Medtronic was very interesting. It was a little intimidating at first specially not having any experience, but once I got the technique and the process down its a interesting place to work for. Especially knowing that you are involved in saving lives.
Even though my experience here is relatively short due to a move in manufacturing locations, the company did more than I have ever seen to ensure that the employees that would lose their job were given as much notice and help to move into their next job position. There were a lot of challenges with the complex process of moving a complicated manufacturing facility to another location, but I always felt heard by the management when I needed to address a concern.
I was let go because I got injured. An injury that i had to keep cleaning my wounds so it was hazardous for me to work like that due to working in a controlled room. Very serious job. I had a doctors note and communicated with them and was let go. If they don’t like you because you know your laws and exercise them they will target you until they fire you. I really loved working at my job I felt passionate about it.
New learning skills
Targeted and fired even with a doctors note
A typical day in Operations consists of a morning production review to discuss any abnormality that may impact safety, quality, schedule adherence, customer product availability where these abnormalities are assigned owners to resolve the specific issue. The afternoon session consists of the broader functional teams, i.e. Quality, Materials, Facilities, Engineering, etc. to allow for activity alignment in the execution and achievement of the plant Key Performance Indicators (KPIs.) We have created a culture of holding our teams and our leaders accountable to meet the demands of our customers everyday which can the hardest part of the job, but certainly the most rewarding.
Team based management focused on accountability to achieve business results
High cost of living in local area
They replace older workers with young kids out of school because they're cheaper. It's a very high stress job. They expect you to answer your email or phone 24/7.
Bonuses in good years
High stress environment; no job security; poor management
A greedy company. Don't pay their employees enough. I remember before when we had a lunch party or something, the first quarter of the year they made billions of dollars and they said it is not enough. I was so disappointed. Making billions of dollars and lol not yet enough and they never pay us enough. The best thing to pay people that works there is at least $20-$25 on a level-entry employee. It won't hurt them a bit if they even do a $30 an hour, honestly!
