Awful place to work at

They tell you... '' you wont be doing the same everyday'' since i started 9 months back all I've been told to do is tills. sitting there scanning for 8 hours a day. Management don't care about you.. you got something to say? Well they will give you a fake smile and then go into the office just to slag you off to the other managers. A lot of your shifts are 5am starts where they expect you to complete on average 7-12 pallets by yourself in the space of 3 hours before the store opens. If not completed you can be waiting for the store manager to be asking you to have a 'chat' getting threaten for disciplinaries.. list just goes on and on. I wouldn't wish this job to anyone!

Had its Pros and Cons

Most of the people working there were great, but there were a few that made it suck. You will be doing EVERYTHING since they never schedule enough people. They will make you feel bad for calling out most of the time and are not flexible. It is a very physically demanding job so be prepared.

Exhausting

I worked in a lidl store for 3 years. The hours can start very early or end very late. The chances of finishing your shift on time were hit and miss. On lates we were expected to stay until the work was finished even if that meant we finished 2 hours later than our shift end.Managers were by and large lovely with the odd exception, emphasis on teamwork but some staff carried others.Pay was great and usually some overtime available.Progression only after a long time, if you push hard and your face fits the company ideal.Never enough staff!!

Bad management and rules but good pay

Terrible management, terrible contracts can be done your contracted hours every week then owe the company hours, great pay and benefits but unless you’re a manager it’s not a good job! You have no life for always working the weekends and bank holidays. Breaks you have 15 minutes for 4+hrs -6hrs if under 4 you have 0 break but if you are late clocking out you get a breaks deducted. If you go over 6 hrs before clocking out you get 30 minutes deducted instead of 15. 6+ hrs is 30 minutes, if you don’t bring your own lunch and you buy something from the store you take this time out of your break and if there’s ques you could lose 10 minutes easily Just buying your lunch

High intensity job

Overall a decent place to work. Management isn’t too bad. Associates get almost all their breaks but supervisors and managers almost never get to take all of their breaks. Breaks are not evenly distributed throughout shift. Sometimes understaffed. Rude customers sometimes but coworkers are nice and management is understanding about being late with good reason. Decent pay but a very low yearly pay increases ($0.25 or $0.50/year I believe but it is unclear to me). They do provide benefits to anyone who is pt30 or full time(unsure about pt20). Wages should be higher considering the workload and intensity of the job.

Sucks

This place is not a good place to work management sucks they don’t pay enough you won’t get the guaranteed hours you where promised it’s just all around a bad place to work not sure about all but at the 1311 Mall drive location I would never work there again

Sadly, the worst job culture I have ever seen...Disgusted to see how people are treated.

The worst job of my life! There is no respect for the associates, they use/drain them until they quit or get injured because of the craziness and the unsustainable pace of the different tasks (without any training of course). The incompetence of the management can literally make you have a mental breakdown. I witnessed that several times with associates who were overwhelmed because of the non sense of the supervisors and quit right away. You can make money with endless shifts (they do not let you go because they assign you 25 tasks to do before leaving), but at the price of your health and your social life.When people complain to employee relations, there is a fake kind of investigation and the managers get always cleared, always ending up with the employee fired or the employee"resigning".They do not respect the company paid breaks policy, they give the schedules last minute for one week in advance, they do not take into account people's availability, and they change schedules the day before without letting you know and blaming you when you cannot come, this is to name only a few.

Understaffed and Overworked

Turnover rate is high, so they overwork the employees they do have. However, the benefits are great, and they do offer PTO. The pay rate is good but not much room for advancement.

Stressful and Unaccomodating

I enjoyed my time at Lidl but found myself struggling at the register, partially finding it stressful to wait on customers while I waited for any supervisor or manager to come out of the woodwork to help me which never resulted in them being happy and partially because of my continuing struggles with anxiety and a panic disorder. When it became apparent that the register wouldn’t work, it was impossible to get away from it despite it being clear to everyone that it wasn’t going well. And when I would get away, I would be asked to do so much to replace the fact that I wasn’t on the register that it felt like a punishment.

Training on computer and on site. Managers disrespectful not giving a chance to explain the situation. Long hours for a part-time job. Low staffing.

Worst company

I've been in the company for a year, been through 3 store managers, 2 district managers and nothing has changed far as the way things are being managed. They may not say it or deny it but certain supervisors are very disrespectful, it seems like management gets upset if you can not come in on your day off or stay later then your clock out time. One if the stores I worked for the store manager I believe over worked everyone including the assistant managers, had unrealistic packout times and barley got a lunch break. They did not take covid 19 seriously which made matters worse because there were multiple cases of it. Overall this is not a good working environment no matter what location you are working.

Apply somewhere else, not worth the $12.50 an Hour

would not work here again, hours inconsistent, constantly changing, request for time off are sometimes ignored even when requested a month in advance. Expectations are unrealistic, they expect a single person to work a full pallet with stuff that's located all across the store in 30-45 mins. if you are even 3 minutes late to work or going on/off your break, there's a problem yet they won't pull you off your register to cash you out until 15-30 mins after you were scheduled to clock out. Corporate is always changing things around and will completely undo something they told you to do the week before, which stresses management out, then they take it out on associates and it just created more work on our behalf and customers complaining.

Competitive Wages But Poor Management

Lidl may be a good company to work for, but not this location. I had a bad impression from my first day. Inadequate training of staff. That's bad enough anywhere, but especially at a company where you are expected to know how to do multiple jobs. Store manager not qualified for position. Overall lack of professionalism and communication. Employees allowed to work sick...in a pandemic. You will be given tests on your knowledge, but supervisors won't have a discussion with you on where you need to improve. This is a job only for the desperate. There are better options out there. Keep looking.

Work anywhere else

Where should I start with this company? They seem to be great they come in all new and shiny offering 401ks and PTO and work life balance everything to make you want to work for them. However shortly after being employed here you realize that you are extremely overworked and severely underpaid. There are a few different departments in the store, wear house, bakery, deli, cashier, sales floor/pack-out and they expect one person to be everywhere and do everything. They are extremely understaffed due to the high volume of workers quitting or calling out from being overworked. Management also isn’t great, there is no communication. Really wouldn’t recommend this job to my worse enemy.

Your roster can always change ,get called at any time to change your working hours , shifts cancelled if management feels like it ,get sent home early if store isn't doing good enough ,never know what time your break will be ,only get a hour break over 12 hours ,once started at 5am and got a break at 1 PM and finished at 3 pm ,if you use canteen your break could be interrupted to go on till

They expect too much from you

At the beginning of the job I enjoyed it, but the more comfortable the staff got with you the more they expected from you. I was always the person they asked to do the 5am overtime shifts. Baring in mind I lived the furthest away and had to use public transport, if I said no to over time they would always moan at me and treat me differently the next shift I’m in. Also any member of staff who is higher than a retail assistant doesn’t bother doing any work and helping in the shop floor. They’re always able to make one rule for themselves , such as having a cigarette break, and one for retail assistance (we wasn’t allowed one). Also the gossiping and talking behind your back is the worst thing ever, even the managers used to join in. It was good for the pay but was a horrible job to work.

Pallets pallets pallets

Most of the time there is 4-5 people a shift, and it’s left to 2-3 people to pack out all of the pallets in a ridiculous amount of time. Also they expect you to get a 6ft, 2,000lb pallet done in 40 mins, there is no work-life balance, it’s all work

Unfairly dismissed

Dismissed while out sick without notification, the injury i was out with was also sustained while working in store. Really loved my job with Lidl and was very good at it, but the company treated me horribly.
