Fun, but maybe not for everyone

Fun but challenging

They hire great likeminded people so you'll make friends and have fun, however it can be challenging to move up the ladder if someone decides they don't like you anymore.

Fun but challenging

Your colleagues make this a great place to work, they hire like minded people and it really is a joy to be around them. Management can be shocking, from day to day mangers through to the top of the company. They used to care and invest, now don't listen to their own values and belittle people. It's a shame.It isn't the same in every hotel, but there is an unfortuante theme.

A very fun packed place to work

A great place to work ,tough like anything there's still a room for improvement. Everyday is different, no day is alike . The Staff are Amazing. And overall it's good Company to work for . Plenty of possibilities for promotion. Free uniforms, free meals and benefits.

Great team of people, very positive work force

In my opinion from attending the casting event the typical day would look like serving and helping guests the right way. To become and leader first we must learn how to serve. The work place culture is very diverse which I love I will have a great group of co workers. I learned so much already from meeting and getting to know the staff that is apart of the company as well as my fellow great co workers.

Good company in theory, but boston management wasn’t great

I worked at the Boston location for a year. In my opinion there was too much emphasis on partying with your coworkers. But it’s great pay and if you’re a 20 something looking to get into hospitality it’s a fantastic company to start with.

It made me better

I love working for citizenM! The team is amazing, open for feedback and very encouraging. The managers care about our wellbeing and they do everything to accommodate our needs (breaks, unfortunate events, sick leave, holidays, availability). It's the best company I've ever worked for!

Bonne entreprise pour débuter dans l’hôtellerie

Le management se fait à taille humaine, l’ambiance se veut décontractée et les équipes sont top. Le focus est vraiment fait sur les clients appelés « guests » et il faut toujours aller au delà des attentes. J’ai apprécié le fait qu’on vous forme au logiciel Amadeus, a faire des cocktails, café et cuisine. Et qu’on vous offre une nuit d’hôtel au début pour vivre vous même l’expérience. Le job est très polyvalent. Cependant ils manquent souvent du personnel ce qui résulte dans une charge de travail plus élevée, mieux vaut pas compter ses heures.

Faut aimer ...

Très bonne philosophie par rapport à la clientèle. Après, ils gèrent parfaitement tout l'arsenal psychologique pour vous faire adhérer à la philosophie de l'entreprise et vous amener là où ils l'ont décidé. Si vous êtes docile tout ira bien ...Salaire environ 11€ de l'heure plus système de bonus allant jusqu'à 20%. Mais là il faut être un bon toutou et ne pas hésiter à balancer ses collègues. Profile préféré de la boite ... émigrés sans histoire qui ne savent pas dire non.

Incredibly taxing physically and mentally

It can be brutal. You are basically doing the work of 2+ people so they can cut down on labor. You are paid well but they can take away your 20% bonus at any time for any reason. Endless corporate lingo and team building nonsense that does not feel productive or motivating. You have to conform to their way of doing things despite their mantra that they want you to "be yourself." They want you to be exactly what will please the guests in the hotel and nothing else. Everything about it feels fake. If you are not constantly interacting with the hotel guests and making small talk then you will be spoken to. It is exhausting. They will tell you how great the company is over and over again, but they never ask how you feel about it.

Company Like No Other

If you’re looking for Normalcy - Stagnant environment this is not the place. They are 100% all about thinking outside the box . All though I’m not with the company anymore, I will not be that person to unfairly bash them. Working here you will meet authentic folks from all walks of life and that’s what makes them and industry disruption. This company brought vulnerability out of me and mans me fell like family from the start of the employment journey. Trust me I have not one regret awesome Management team. Wish they would’ve been more transparent about my departure. I understand HR and what you can and can’t say but I left without truly knowing why I wasn’t a good fit . How can a person fix something if they don’t know what they need to work on .

I worked for them for about 6 months, from day one it was a mess, everything they promise is kinda fake. The job isn't fun at all but you're suppose to make it fun from within your own unexisting motivation. I felt that I was never really helped by the managers, some of them were nice but others were bitter, backstabbing, you name it. They promise that you'll have benfits if you have an awesome performance and in my case, no matter how hard I tried, how happy the guests were with me, the managers didn't seem to care. I won't denny I met some few nice people but overall I didn't enjoyed the experience. The atmosphere was always tense. If you don't like "fakeness" and hipocrisy I wouldn't recommend it.

Nice place to work

Working at citizem was really nice experience. The fact that the main spoken language is English and that they they select people based on their qualities and not in their nationalities really applies. They have a nice company culture and although this is not the kind of job you would like to do for the rest of your life it's pretty much enjoyable arriving in such a place where most you everyone makes you feel welcome!

Good place to be if you are a favourite of management

Favouritism is very strong in this work place, especially towards males there was a "rumour" that the general manager (f) only liked to hire males for her hotel. Also not great when it comes to mental health as I personally know of another 2 people who were let go as they had mental health issues which they were dealing with but that was not good enough for this company.

Great basics - don't always deliver

I love the idea of their value etc and it is lovely to work with people who are working hard to keep that company ethos alive. Unfortunately it is noticeable that the higher you get in management (hotel manager and above) that they lose track of what they stand for and become traditional and thoughtless, resulting in employees feeling and being treated just like a number - something they preach they don't do. If you have the right team and the right manager it is incredible. If you have the wrong manager and don't brown nose to be a favourite then you will be stuck where you are or pushed until you leave so they can bring in people that they can manipulate. The whole point in the company is to be unique and individual creating an overall positive experience for guests - but with the wrong person giving the guidance this get's lost.

Citizen M is a nice place to work with if you are a direct hire associate.

Citizen M is a nice place to work with considering its location in downtown Manhattan. However, the chances of promotion or in a higher level of work as an administrative duty is quite a nil. I like to interact with the guest of diversified nationalities. We are under an agency or a manning contractor administratively and payroll concerns. But direct management provides us free meals which are a great factor to save cost. The hardest part is having to do multiple jobs reserved actually to two people to save agency additional overhead cost. The most enjoyable part is, of course, the tips you get once in a while servicing guests needs ASAP.
