Great job if you have a high tolerance for frustration :)

It's not a super hard job, or at least it shouldn't be. Upper management does not give store teams any of the resources required to achieve the goals they set. The products are really nice when they're made to spec, but since the pandemic the company has clearly cut corners and the new manufacturers are inconsistent.A lot of the stores have great people in them, but the integrity and common sense doesn't travel much higher up the org chart unfortunately

Team can make it fun, but others weren’t lying about the emails

Not the worst job, but your team can for sure make and or break this job. Corporate seems to be heavily focused on numbers/KPIs and not much else. To them, the factors leading to meeting their goals (or not meeting them) are irrelevant. Bad location for the shop, leading to low foot traffic and a clientele base that isn’t coming in to shop? Doesn’t matter. Them not doing a great job to even let people know you’re there?? Also doesn’t matter, etc etc. All this very much to the point of bringing the hammer down upon the managers of the shops and threatening their jobs, which their stress then trickles down as to how their behaviour towards us goes. And the emails, they weren’t lying about the emails. Be prepared to be spending hours sending emails. Like hundreds a day. Instead of a dedicated team reaching out to clients about short-ships from the warehouse just not sending things to people, you’ve gotta be the one to do it. And should the 1-2 item short-ship orders bring down your averages for units per transaction and average order value? Sucks bud, you’re still in trouble. There’s no dedicated system for sending out emails regarding sales or anything of the like either, so you’ll be emailing each client you’re assigned individually about them, and not to mention the follow up emails. Expect to be sending each client you even look at at least 5+ follow up emails. Most you’ll usually get in response to many of these is an ‘unsubscribe’ request after the first two or three. They also dangle the potential to bonus every month should you meet the goals set (as a whole shop), but -

pretty good

Management was pretty good in my experience. The regular retail stuff overall one of the better places I have worked. Pretty decent benefits, get access to Walmart perks if that's your thing

Do not work here!

Management was awful, toxic work environment 😒 I tried working there as long as possible but the drama and the Management was so bad I put in my 2 weeks and honestly I don't even want to stay the 2 weeks but because I'm professional I am but I do not advise anyone to work here.

Unorganized and overworked

The company itself is not bad but management could be better. If you’re a lead expect to have loads of work given to you. Most days were slow and manager micromanages all the time.

Points positifs

Flexible

Points négatifs

No life balance

Solid company with some glaring holes

I've worked with them for nearly 4 years and overall I'd say my experience has been good. They are finding more hats for the guides to wear which takes away from coverage and in-person customer service. The bonus structure is generous and since it's not commissioned, there's way more incentive to work as a team. The goals have been pretty reasonable in this pandemic world, but warehouse and inventory issues have been a nightmare. Even with those issues, there has been a little too much emphasis on conversion and not overall store performance. I think that puts a little undue pressure on a team that's doing the best they can with the tools they have. You meet some great clients, but expect to get some pushback about not having inventory they can leave with. My market manager is very kind and empathic but is still learning and growing in their role so expect some growing pains. Also, negotiate a pay rate upfront that you're going to be comfortable with for a long time because the raises are almost laughable. I've worked with the company for nearly 4 years and I've only seen my pay increase by $1.30. If it weren't for the bonus structure, I couldn't afford to live in the city. You also won't be getting promoted any time soon, so if you want to be there, strap in for the long haul. HQ can be a little tough to deal with, but the managers in my market are amazing people who really care about their staff. Come in, dress the part, and comply and you will do just fine. Everyone in my market is knowledgable, so you can at the very least learn some skills you can take with you to -

Points positifs

Great discount (if you like their clothes), solid pay, great benefits, Flexible PTO, Great bonus structure.

Points négatifs

Hq, lack of product, leadership having to take on too many roles, Little room for growth, Raises are too small

Really great place to get introduced to semi high end fashion

Honestly, this place has a super healthy work ethic and everyone on your team is very supportive. A great team makes a great day over at the store, and you really can consider a growing position with the company if you really show interest. Customers are usually very friendly, and the job isn't really tasking or tiring when you're staffed completely.

Points positifs

Lunches are catered to once a month, bonuses, benefits, starting pay

Points négatifs

Kind of understaffed

Was once a great amazing job to have, until COVID

I was here for a short amount of time, seen people come and go until we had a team of 3... It was due to covid and we were NOT making goal what-so-ever.

Points positifs

50-80% discount & at WALMART.COM

Points négatifs

poor pay, no traffic, no structure, harassing clients daily via email.

Unorganized and poor communication

Bonobos sell itself as a progressive forward-thinking company but it is not! They are extremely unorganized especially at the store level and lack a sense of direction.

Fun and Relaxed Work

It is not traditional retail. The company truly does value individuality and want you to bring yourself to the job. Managers are flexible with hours, customers tend me very nice, work is very manageable

Valuing your employees

I felt absolutely undervalued. And in return i was expected to show my gratitude to a place that did not make me feel appreciated. How do you expect anyone in NYC to live off of your 20 hours a week at minimum wage? If you cant afford to pay your employees, perhaps you shouldn’t have so many. Lot of sitting around, doing nothing and wasting my time and barely getting paid for it.

Strong Sense of Teamwork

Bonobos facilitated teamwork whenever somebody was selling. Teamwork was encouraged and the ability to help others was always rewarding. Each team member could help with training of new employees. Seeing the progression of coworkers that you helped train was always rewarding.

Laid back workplace

I had a nice freelance experience with Bonobos. My manager was helpful and I was able to learn things even though I was not a full time employee. I wish there was an opportunity to become full-time but that was not available at the time

Culture & Growth

Great culture within the company, and no day is the same. Exciting to work with different people on a daily basis. The trajectory for advancement is becoming more and more blurry.

Good workplace with flat-organization architecture

The employees here are friendly and ready to help. Felt there is no much hierarchy issues, we can discuss ideas with a large set of developers and get the feedback.
