Cambridge office was an extraordinary place to work

Audible has a well thought-out interview process with high standards. The good news is you'll be working with extraordinarily bright people who also a lot of fun to be around on a daily basis.The Cambridge office is special- it's an intimate group, somewhat shielded from the more corporate environment at the Newark, NJ headquarters. So while gaining the benefits of working for a massive corporation like Amazon, you can develop strong relationships with everybody who works there.

Any restriction on coming to the office is toxic to the culture, A lot of time is spent re-engineering systems, Managers are under stress to produce which can trickle down under ineffective SDMs

Mission-driven company where which team you're on determines everything

Re: the product. You sell enlightenment, entertainment, and information—none of it goes in a landfill. What could be better? It's everything you love about podcasts and books, combined! And it's great to tell people where you work and see them light up and say they love it. There's a genuine push to attract and retain talent, although the culture (trust, happiness, security) varies from team to team. Fortunately, it's fairly easy to pursue transfers to different teams by participating in cross-functional team projects. They seem to have doubled down on a culture of diversity, inclusion, and kindness. Advancement is notoriously difficult, given Amazon's structuring around promotions/raises.

Recruiting Coordinator

Work/life balance is non-existent. Management is in complete disarray and expect you to work super long/late hours. Culture is not pleasant and many are overworked/underpaid. Seems like an exciting place to work due to brand recognition until you actually start and realize it’s not what it’s cracked up to be. The whole group needs a complete overhaul. Not worth the free lunch/snacks provided.

Nice place to work .......if you’re under 24yr old

Not much growth potential for people of color. If you are over 25 good luck going anywhere in the company. The favoritism is out of control! They give you food daily for lunch and breakfast and have a game room. Misc perks to entice younger workers. Wouldn’t recommend working there. They like very young workers because they can be easily manipulated. Because most are in their first real job.

The Fill the Benefits and Amenities But...

Don’t get me wrong, I loved a lot of things about working there however, it can become stressful when you aren’t given the proper training. It hurts your rating and stresses you out. I put the work in for a year and then am promoted with no pay and am taking on more responsibility but with no raise.

Great Place

Overall Audible is a great company. They truly try their best to give you a great work experience. My time here has been great. If you are looking for experience this a great place to start.

Focus on skills

Two projects I had, required advanced skills in Excel and Access. After all, it was a great experience to work as a professional and deliver exactly what they requested.

Productive and fun work place with environments used for de-stressing and focus.

Overall a great company. The people there are very friendly and what Audible provides for everyone is helpful from free lunch to even a ping pong table. Audible cares about their employees even the interns as much as they care about their consumers who utilize their audiobooks.

This job was great had fun working here.

This job was fun, exciting and a push. It helped me with changing as a person and an employee for the company. I had the best times at audible but sad to say it just was a bad time for me when I was working there.

Ehhh, it was ok.

Typical call center environment. High schoolish , gossping and pettyness. Pay was ok but some calls can have you on the phone for over an hour trying to help somebody program their iphone/andriod to play Audible. Very Stressful!!

Great perks!

Audible is an open office, for better and worse. Informal, flat organizational structure. Great perks--free shuttle to office from train station, free lunch, biweekly happy hours. Lack of consistency and weak policy infrastructure.

This company is under Amazon and tremendous work in everyday. lots of meeting and project are going on. Transition stage of company from small to big (Amazon). still need more solid organization.

Stressful

Everyone is stressed there. The only happy ones are the higher ups. Everyone looks to the next person to finish up a work or get started. Management is quick to point fingers.

Very offshore oriented.

The work is interesting. Lots of Business Intelligence and Analytics. The culture is very progressive and offshore oriented. Free lunch and snacks is a plus.

Ok place to work

I was hire as a contractor for an Accounts Payable position. I barely did any accounting work. I basically didn't learn anything. I got stuck with their so called "special projects" which consisted of doing their filing.

Simply the best place I've worked

Audible, as an Amazon company, is very hectic sometimes but yet it was an awesome place to work. They wanted you to see you grow from day one, made you feel important and the coachings you received were well-balanced with what you did wrong and what you could improve upon. They also were flexible with your schedule, although limited in what they could offer you. The work environment was nice, people around you was always helpful from peers to managers. I never felt so well working in such a high paced place like this one, because it is true sometimes it was very stressful, but regularly I was always working feeling free to make choices that could help me grow within the company.

Network!

The culture in the company feels like a tech startup. Management is always looking for new ideas and they encourage you to think of something new. The only thing I would look out for is staying within one particular group. It will be hard to come up with new ideas if you're always around the same people.

A typical day at work. Downloading the new versions of books to the device, testing all the different devices, Management was good. Except that it was too far.

Intern

The intern experience was fun. They create a structured program for interns to partake in. I enjoyed this a lot but there isn't as much actual work that is handed to interns in reality.
