It’s ok if you’re desperate

It’s very much luck of the draw on what you get and what you ultimately earn. This company should pay better rates. You’re self employed, have no benefits and have to pay for your own outgoings. Fuel, vehicle maintenance, depreciation, insurance. No paid travel time either. You can do better than most if you live near a distribution center and only take blocks with decent rates but for those who live further away after accounting for expenses it’s often less than minimum wage. On my best day I figured after expenses I came out out with £8 per hour net. A chunk of that will be tax so that takes it even lower. Amazon like to convey this idea that they’re a progressive good employer but they’re not really. The drivers who make the magic happen are ultimately, poorly rewarded. But hey, Tory Britain. Needs must. Amazon management, should look to their conscience and ask themselves if this is an acceptable way to treat people delivering value for them in the year 2022. The fact of the matter is that just because you can reward employees poorly, doesn’t mean that you should. IMHO.If the pay was improved substantially, then it would be a good rewarding job, but in its current form, you’d likely struggle to maintain a vehicle and pay your bills, unless you worked 7 days per week and virtually lived in your car delivering profit for Amazon daily.
