At Alstom I have the opportunity of earning experience and practice my skills. At Alstom I learn SAP system and converting sales order in to work orders.
My previous Manager that I work for two years at Hello Fresh was the same manager who hired me
That I leave in Richmond CA and Alstom is locate is in Vallejo CA.
The person responsible for work production was completely unqalified. It was so bad it may disstroy the company. I was used to get the project moving until other employees return from vacation.
Great co-workers, great owner
There is no room for advancement if you are not part of the "in crowd". They tell you they are going to take care of you but can't get simple issues resolved. The benefit package is the best I have ever had. Pto, vacation, unlimited sick time paid. A lot more. The best 401k ever. They match, and put in even if you don't. But the work environment is stressed bad. Terrible air quality. The worst of any shop I have ever worked in. Your ideas are ignored. You are treated as if you are completely replaceable. Some of management is really nice, and go out of their way to help you. But the top. 👎Steady word, and I do mean work. They will require "mandatory over time", and ask you to "step up" till you break. Very frustrating dealing with a manager/engineer that knows less about the job than you do. And don't think you are going to get any kind of high fives. So based on all of this I would avoid working there unless you really need good benefits.
Unlimited sick time paid, lots of vacation too
Highly stressful work environment you are expendable
I was head hunted by from my indeed profile to work for this company. I had an interview, was told all these wonderful things, what they had to offer about their Vallejo facility and that I would be in a 6 month probation as a temporary employee before being hired on as permanent. I was told about all the benefits I would get after 6 months and the starting pay was excellent. After being hired it ended up being a temp to hire contract where I was working for a temp agency not Alstom themselves. Turns out there are people there who have been temps for years and have never been hired on permanently. Two months after leaving a company I had been with for 9 years I was let go because, this what I was exactly told, I was too much of a perfectionist, I wasn’t as fast as the older guys who work there and that they had a slow down in materials being delivered. How can I be as fast I was still learning the processes of the job. It’s a fast paced job and every couple of weeks we were moving to the next process and this was new to me so I was needing to be trained. The people I charge of ordering materials don’t order them by date needed but by part number numerically, so that means parts will be in collecting dust that aren’t needed yet while the current parts that are needed are in back order, which slows down production and gives them the opportunity to let the workforce go to save on production cost.
Misleading management, temp to hire, unrealistic goals based on materials on hand

Watch out for the Foamers storming the port and starb. sides, The hardest part of the job is trying to be in sync with the engineers (the away team) outrageous ideas. The most enjoyable part is when I understand how those seemingly outrageous ideas come together.
Railcars and Foamers
It has railway engineering is not my cup of tea. Everything including the technology is almost 100 years old. It was an interesting process as I was working with mostly aerospace engineers that have been recruited to learn the railroad business.
Good place to work
